You have won $1 million, send me $100 in order to collect

California - Out of nowhere, 79-year-old Connie Newell got a call on her cell phone from a man telling her she had won $1 million and needed to send him $100 in order to collect. Newell didn’t fall for the scam. She told the man she wasn’t interested, but before she could hang up he made this threat: “Do you want someone to put a bullet in you? We know exactly where you live.” Sheriff’s Sgt. Mark Varnau, who specializes in cases involving financial crimes and elder abuse, said Newell did the right thing.
