Stupid News-More than 1,000 animals rescued from house

HOUSTON, Texas - Animal rescue personnel removed more than 1,000 birds, gerbils, snakes, dogs and a goat from wretched conditions at a home in the Houston area. SPCA spokeswoman Meera Nandlal says the property owners said they planned to sell the animals at flea markets. Texas-3 Boaters Rescued After Coast Guard Gives Up

PORT ARANSAS, Texas - Three Texas boaters missing for a week were reunited with their families after they were found alive, sitting on top of their capsized catamaran 180 miles from land. The Coast Guard had called off its search after scouring 86,000 square miles of water without finding them.

Odd News-86 cats rescued from 2-bedroom condo in Colorado

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. - A Glenwood Springs animal shelter was trying to find homes for 86 cats rescued from a two-bedroom condominium. The Colorado Animal Rescue Shelter received the cats on Wednesday. Since then, workers have been scrambling to accommodate the animals at area shelters and homes.

Garfield County sheriff's spokeswoman Tanny McGinnis said the cats were strays taken in by a woman. The woman called for help, saying she couldn't take care of the cats while moving from her Battlement Mesa condo.

The woman's name was not released because no charges were filed.
